What’s involved?
The day of The Pitch is Friday 26 March 2010. All participating teams and their tutors need to report to The Roof Gardens, Kensington and register by 9.30am.
Schedule:
9.30am: Registration at the Kensington Roof Gardens
10.00am: Briefing, competition starts
1.00pm: Lunch
4.00pm: Competition closes, proposal & PowerPoint submitted to judges
Make your own way across to BPP Business school near the Gherkin
6.00pm: Finalists announced at the BPP Business School, Finalists make their Pitch
9.00pm: Event finishes
Once all teams are registered, the teams will be briefed and given the time schedule for the day, including timings for making The Pitch. In a nutshell you will need to read the brief, interpret it and produce a solution to present as your Pitch.
The brief will be based around a real-life scenario and will be exactly the same as one issued to a marketing consultancy or agency.
As in real-life you will be able to call on whatever resources you require. All we ask is that you don’t harass the organisation which set the brief. Apart from that you can call on whatever and whoever you wish to help. Just remember it is only the three team members that will be able to prepare The Pitch presentation on CD for the client.
You can do whatever you want in your pitch presentation but must adhere to 8 PowerPoint slides only along with the proposal. You must bear in mind that the client panel will be judging you on the following:
- Understanding of the brief
- Interpretation of the brief to create your strategy
- Application of marketing tools and techniques
- Creativity and innovation
- Presentation style and quality

Teams make their way to the BPP Business School (next door to The Gherkin) where the judges will announce the finalists at the beginning of the evening proceedings. If your team is successful in going through to the final please note that no changes can be made to the presentation itself. The finalists will then present The Pitch in front of the audience, and a winning team will be selected by the judges.
Free refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks etc.) will be available throughout the day. Lunch will be served at Babylon, The Roof Garden’s restaurant. A buffet will be served at BPP Business School. You are very welcome to invite supporters, friends and colleagues to cheer you on. It’s free to attend but numbers may be restricted so make sure that they register in advance – you’ll be told how this can be done at the same time your application is approved.
