Jones, Team Leader
Following a period as a freelance marketing consultant, Cathy is now Creative Development Manager with a marketing services agency in Milton Keynes focussing on employee benefits packages. She also tutors at The Marketing Academy, a Milton Keynes training centre, accredited by The Chartered Institute of Marketing. As a retail marketing specialist, Cathy is committed to growing the number of Chartered Marketers in the Milton Keynes area. “Keep up to date by reading all you can and going to local events,” comments Cathy, “always look at other industries for inspiration.” Read more about Cathy’s marketing career.

Charlotte
James With a background in campaign
management for a marcoms agency, Charlotte joined Abbey’s
retail product marketing department. Charlotte joined the Institute
in 2000, completing her Postgraduate Diploma in 2003. She enjoys
her continued involvement with the pioneering Milton Keynes team
as a means to stay involved with local marketing community. As Charlotte
explains, “you'll always learn something new or meet someone
interesting!” |
Ailsa
Weir Ailsa joined the Milton
Keynes team whilst studying for the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.
She works for DaimlerChrysler Financial Services, and has used the
knowledge she has gained with The Chartered Institute of Marketing
to progress to her current role as CRM Specialist. “Now that
I have stopped studying,” comments Ailsa, “I find the
Milton Keynes events provide a great opportunity for me to network
with other marketers and to find out about the latest marketing
ideas from other industries.” |
Louise
Trodden Whilst studying for
her Advanced Certificate in Marketing, Louise learnt that a volunteers
group was being formed in Milton Keynes. She became involved to
meet qualified marketers and learn first hand from their experiences.
Events organised by the Milton Keynes team provide a useful resource,
according to Louise, “Get great tips, extend your learning
and there’s food too!” Louise works as a Mail Order
Marketing Manager, for Topps Europe, who operates online mail order
programmes for the WWE and Nickelodeon. |
Sharon
Moulton With two years of hard study,
Sharon gained her CIM Postgraduate Diploma in 2003, after not studying
since leaving school 14 years before. Sharon has been worked in
marketing-related roles for four years and is now a Marketing Manager
at Abbey. She has been part of the Milton Keynes group since its
launch and enjoys her involvement with this successful group in
its leading role in the local marketing community. |
Paul
Gemmell With a background in
toolmaking and kitemark certification, Paul is now Brand Manager
for Robert Bosch Ltd working on Dremel and RotoZip power tools covering
UK, Ireland and the Middle East. Whilst studying the Diploma, Paul
went to a few Milton Keynes events and was so impressed by the group
he decided to volunteer. “I enjoyed the atmosphere and the
fact that unlike most groups there was no real hierarchy,“
says Paul, “and an informality which gave a genuine team feeling
to the group.” |
Sarah
Anstee
Sarah has 10 years Business to Business experience, currently working at Ventyx, a US software company. She began her career in a research role, before shifting her focus to work in a pure marketing capacity for Independent Software Vendors in the Asset and Service Management industries, developing compelling marketing propositions, setting up sales channels and lead generation campaigns in EMEA and APAC regions. Sarah began her marketing diploma in 2004 and became a volunteer of the Milton Keynes team as a way to meet and learn from other marketers from a range of industries – all interested in best practice and delivering results

Trevor
Spinks Having completed his Professional
Diploma in Marketing in 2005, Trevor joined the Milton Keynes team.
“It’s the ideal place to meet like minded, professional,
fun people,” says Trevor. He is based in easyJet’s offices
at Luton airport, working for easyLand, where he is part of the
commercial department looking after the UK regional routes. The
role is a mixture of marketing and analytical work for this fast-
moving and dynamic company. |
Jaakko
McVey Starting out as a Marketing
Administrator for SGE Europe Ltd, Jaakko decided to study for the
Certificate in Marketing and before completing the Professional
Diploma. He is the European Marketing Coordinator for SGE Europe
Ltd, where he is part of the emerging new world of electronic communications
tools. Jaakko recommends getting involved: “Broaden your business
& social experience by coming along, its fun!” |
Chris
Wright
Chris has worked in marketing communications for 15 years, in both client and agency roles. He is a Chartered Marketer and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. Chris currently runs a marketing communications consultancy and works with a wide range of businesses and public sector clients. One of his key specialisms is the development of bespoke technological systems that support the marketing process and improve business efficiency. Chris comments: “I have been actively involved with the CIM for about 4 years now and find it to be a great opportunity to network, learn best practice and share experiences with other marketers. I have very much enjoyed my time with the CIM and hope that it will continue for many years to come. |
Anneke
Edmonds Anneke started her studies
by completing the CAM Certificate and is now a Fellow. She joined
The Chartered Institute of Marketing whilst studying for her Postgraduate
Diploma. Anneke is Marketing Director for Scientio Ltd, a hi-tech
software company specialising in data and text mining. She also
teaches CIM qualifications for Milton Keynes College, runs business
start-up classes and provides marketing consultancy to small businesses.
She advises: “An effective marketer scans the environment
for information which can put her company in a stronger position
to take advantage of opportunities in the market place.” |
Debbie
Chalmers
Debbie is Marketing Manager at Abbey in Intermediary
Mortgage Marketing. She joined The Chartered Institute of Marketing
after gaining her Diploma. Debbie felt it was important to be qualified
in order to be taken seriously as a marketer. She is an enthusiastic
supporter of the events which are organised by the team: “Milton
Keynes events are fun, informative and well organised,” comments
Debbie. |
Faye
Scadden
After completing a Postgraduate Diploma, Faye
joined the Milton Keynes team. She took this step to learn more
about marketing in the local commercial sector, as her eight years
of marketing experience has been within the public sector, most
recently in local government. As a newcomer to the area, this also
provided an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded people and
valuable contacts. Faye is now a Chartered Marketer, something she
believes was made more achievable due to the CPD time she has spent
supporting the Milton Keynes team. |
