Support for studying members

“The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s qualifications are internationally recognised,” comments June Sheedy, GLR Chair for the Institute. “These qualifications offer a fast track up the career ladder for motivated marketers.”

Considerable support is provided to studying members by the Chartered institute of Marketing, based at Moor Hall. The Greater London Region also designs and delivers further support specifically for studying members in this region. GLR achieved the Best Studying Member Award from The Institute.

Best Studying Member Initiative

The Greater London Region scooped a prestigious award in the Chartered Institute of Marketing Awards 2005 announced in September. The judges were impressed by the range and practical nature of student services in the region:June Sheedy receiving the award

  • Student Open Days also known as ‘Kick Start Revision’ days
  • Careers Fairs supported by leading recruitment agencies
  • Studying member revision planning helpline
  • Online survey dedicated to gauging studying members needs

Resources for students

There are many valuable support services available from The Chartered Institute of Marketing at Moor Hall

These include:

  • Past exam papers showing the structure and content of questions, and marking system
  • Examiner reports with feedback on student performance in past exams
  • Specimen answers from other students
  • Case studies which can be used to illustrate theoretical learning

Revision planning helpline

The Greater London Region Board has always sought to support Studying Members through their revision and exams or assignments. For the past 3 years it has sponsored the Student Support Group revision planning helpline. Studying members can use their specialist support to assess their current knowledge through diagnostic quizzes, swap exam or assignment tips using the message board or focus revision efforts with Saturday or Sunday workshops.

London revision workshops

Many studying members find it useful to develop their exam skills in a friendly environment with the help of an expert tutor and support from other students. London Workshops are available in the run up to the June and December exams covering:

  • Syllabus
  • Exam Preparation
  • The Case Study (SMIP)

These workshops are delivered by The Student Support Group, an accredited CIM provider, and normally take place at the weekends to fit around studying members busy working schedules.

Diagnostic quizzes

Studying members can test their subject knowledge quickly and easily using an online diagnostic quiz for each subject area. These quizzes have been developed by The Student Support Group, an accredited CIM provider that carries out extensive work with studying members in the Greater London region each year.

Using the quiz allows studying members to focus their efforts and make best use of their limited study time.
