A good mentor can make a great difference in someone’s life. A good mentor helps, guides, shares knowledge, and enjoys doing it. Mentoring, when done right, benefits both the mentor and the mentee. Procurement and Marketing – a match made in heaven?

No one said the recession would be easy. Cost cutting is a fact of life and so are procurement departments. Scrutiny has never been more fashionable. The sooner marketers accept that and use what they already know about building relationships to improve communication and processes, the better. After all, many businesses won’t consider purchasing marketing services without involving a procurement team. But don’t let that worry you. A recent article in The Marketer puts it all in perspective.

The LionHeart Challenge – the London region lends support to marketers of the future.

The LionHeart Challenge  is a programme that takes young people through a series of business challenges designed to hone their entrepreneurial skills and to encourage greater teamwork. Volunteers from a range of professional organisations and businesses help by donating time and knowledge. The final round asked young people to “to conceptualise, design and create a product or device which will become a major aid to fire prevention in the UK.”  Members of the GLR were on hand on July 1st at the Emirates Stadium to help make the event a success. Mocky Khan, GLR Chair, and Phillip Preston, Regional Director, East of England and Greater London, were both judges.  Steve Revill, Robert Harris, Michael Lowkin, Sebastian Franco, Jay Gorasia and Mark Ganellin were all there to offer advice and guidance.
